1.Frequently Asked Questions (Church Ministries)
What is the FIRST STEP in having your ministry work with our church?
We begin a new relationship in 99% of congregations by giving the valuable gift called, A Time of Envisioning. This meeting with your Staff and leaders present. Travel costs are the only expense associated with A Time of Envisioning for your church. We stay in host homes when we are in your parish.
What takes place during A Time of Envisioning with our church?
Our Staff presents a brief devotional before entering into a time of listening to everyone share your greatest strengths and areas you would like to see be improved, strengthened or created in ministry. WE are primarily in the “listening and understanding mode” during this meeting. Based on the input we then discuss possible “next steps” for the ministry areas you wish to develop.
Provided that we have a good Envisioning with Proactive and decide to take a “next step” – what would this most likely look like? About 60% of the churches that have A Time of Envisioning follow up with a Discovery and Reflection Process for their entire congregation, led by our Staff.
HOW does a Discovery and Reflection Process work in a local church?
Discovery & Reflection takes place over the course of two weekends, about a month apart. We bring a Staff Team to your church the first weekend to listen to your Pastor, Staff, all major committees and as many members as possible through extensive and in-depth interviews. We also ask every member and visitor to fill out an extensive survey on the life of the church. We then visit each of worship service on Sunday and as many Sunday School classes as possible. Our Staff then meets and compiles the findings from the weekend. About 40 hours is spent to fully process all the input. We then prepare an extensive Powerpoint report of all the summarized input and observations. Approximately one month following the first weekend, we return for a second weekend during which we lead your worship services, teach in your Sunday School classes and have a church wide Town Hall Meeting after a wonderful lunch time together. Everyone is invited to attend. We present our extensive report and a Strategic Ministry Proposal of how we may assist the church in accomplishing the objectives and priorities determined by our findings.
What happens after the Discovery and Reflection Process and Town Hall meeting?
We ask your congregation to pray and discuss the Strategic Ministry Proposal. We also ask you to make a decision on the proposal within 45 days after the Town Hall Meeting.
