About Dr. Ron Flowers:

At a very young age, Christ laid his hand on my life. He began calling me into ministry at age 17, and I finally answered four years later by taking a student appointment after my junior year at Berry College in Rome, GA. I asked Christ to show me his will and his way, and I promised to believe! He answered: "Believe, and I will show you! And so he has! I live every day thankful for and amazed by God's infinite grace, I try to trust in his promises, and I seek to serve his purposes in my relationships with others.

A few years ago while Associate Pastor at Northside UMC, I worked with Rev. Jim Hollis, who joined our staff part-time to strengthen several key ministries (prayer, visitors, and small groups). I saw first-hand the many practical ministry models taught by Proactive, and I witnessed Jim's real love for Christ, his passion for excellence in ministry, and his commitment to training the lay leadership in the local church. When I retired from full-time appointment in June, 2009, I began part-time work with Proactive because I wanted to be part of the effort to strengthen local churches through practical teaching and training. Proactive has been a wonderful opportunity for me to give back to the church by working in covenant with local congregations to redefine their vision and purpose and involve their laity in the planning and practice of ministry.

I am a Graduate of Berry College, Masters and Doctor of Ministry from Candler School of Theology, Emory University.
41 years of service in the North GA Conference (United Methodist Church), including 20 years of campus ministry work (at Reinhardt College, Emory University, and GA State University), and 15 years as Minister of Program and Administration at Northside UMC.

In my down time, I volunteer with Habitat For Humanity, Reinhardt College Ministerial Association, community charities. I am also addicted to golf!

I am married to Yvonne Housch Flowers, and have two adult children (Jennifer Consaul, Jason Flowers), and four grandkids (ages 7 to 1).

My favorite scripture is Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace you have been saved through faith; this is not your own doing - it is the gift of God, lest anyone should boast." My favorite quote is "The tragedy in life is not death, but what dies inside of us while we are still alive." Norman Cousins
