About Lloyd Griffith: I grew up in a conservative Southern Baptist home. We were very active in the church. If the doors were open, the Griffith’s were there. There has never been a time I didn’t know about Christ, but it was not until I became active at McKendree UMC that I got to know Christ. I have seen him work in my life and the lives of others. While I still want to be in control, I know that when I trust in him it always works out better. This is one of my ongoing struggles. Maybe I will finally “get it” some day. Proactive Evangelism Ministries: (PEM) I first met Jim when he stayed with BJ and me while he conducted a Lifestyle Relational Evangelism weekend at McKendree United Methodist Church. I participated in several Proactive Evangelism Ministries teaching weekends and was invited to serve on the Board of PEM. BJ and I have served on a number of Discovery and Reflection ministry teams. These are out of my “comfort zone” but I get a blessing each and every time. I feel God has a place for us with PEM and look forward to many years of working on the PEM Staff. Accomplishments: Career: While serving in the US Marine Corp I was trained in Data Processing. This is a career that took me from being a computer operator to being the President of a Software and Services Company. Along the way I filled many shoes and learned much. I have been able to take this experience and apply it to my current venture. BJ (my wife) and I own a UPS Store in Sugar Hill, GA. Working as a team we have more than doubled the business in 5 years. BJ does more of the face-to-face with the customers and I do the financial and business responsibilities. We make a great team playing off each others strengths. Ministry experience: While I have served on a number of committees and been on several mission trips I find I have a heart for Christian Financial Education. I have successfully established both Howard Dayton’s Crown Ministries program and the Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University program at McKendree United Methodist Church, a large church in the North Georgia Conference. I really enjoy seeing people get their financial life in order using Gods principles to deal with His money. Organizations / Volunteer work: In addition to participating our Worship and Sunday School I meet weekly with a group of about 6 men for a bible study. Hobbies and areas of interest: I like to travel to places I have never been and to see the beauty of America. I have an interest in politics and sports. I enjoy a number of programs on television. Family: BJ and I have been married for 21 years. Among us we have three children. Our daughter is a Veterinarian and is married to Josh who is a Dentist. Our son Brian works in Risk management and is married to Jennifer who is a chef. Our youngest daughter, Robyn, works for the Atlanta Thrashers in community affairs and she is engaged to Tarik Ali who is a purveyor of beverages. Tarik is getting started in real estate. Favorite Scripture: Matthew 6: 31-33 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. |
