About B. J. Griffith:
I attended an Episcopal Church for the first 20 years of my life. Then I became an Easter/Christmas attendee at a variety of Protestant churches for the next 15 years. After a divorce and a remarriage to Lloyd, we joined McKendree United Methodist Church. January 1986 I was active in the life of the church, but did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until I shared in a Walk to Emmaus weekend in September 1993. It is now a joy to walk with Christ each day! My History With Proactive Evangelism Ministries: (PEM) As God would have it, Jim Hollis was the Spiritual Director on that Emmaus weekend in 1993. I was impressed with his sincerity and honesty as a clergy leader. A few years later, PEM did a Lifestyle Relational Evangelism weekend event at our church and Jim stayed at our house. I was still impressed with Jim and his sincerity, honesty and also his passion for waking up churches to the need for relationships with those OUTSIDE the church, as well as inside. The weekend was wonderful allowing me to experience that I could knock on doors and meet new friends who also wanted to meet Christ. At the end of that weekend, Jim, as he often does, asks a participant to give a testimony about our experiences. As I am silently saying, “please do not call on me”, naturally Jim called on me. I do not remember what I said, but God brought me to John 21:18, “Jesus said, ‘Feed my sheep… ” I realized that was an answer to a prayer as to where God wanted me to serve Him. I started volunteering at the Lawrenceville Food Cooperative Ministry. Within a year I became the Director of the Ministry. Ministry Experience: As the Director of the L/Ville Co-Op, our client population more than doubled and we had to move our operation to another building. God sent the right people at the right time and we were able to convert an insurance office to our new location and move all our food, files and clients within one weekend. I remained Director for 2 years and then my season was over and it was time for someone else to take the Co-Op to the next level and I went back to the corporate world. After 8 months, Lloyd and I decided to purchase a Ship/Copy store and run it together. We purchased The UPS Store, in November 2001, 2 months after 9/11. The store was run down and not as profitable as it could be. The economy was running down and profits were hard to find. I consider the shape our store is in now an accomplishment that was due to hard work, long hours and the GRACE of GOD. The store has more than doubled in sales, profit and value. (IF anyone knows of someone who wants a great business to buy, send them our way, we want more time to be a part of working on Staff with PEM! )
Career Experience: I have 25 years experience in Group Health Insurance. With that background, I have worked for 5 different insurance companies in 3 different states. I eventually left the wonderful world of insurance companies and became the manager of a billing company for an Emergency Physicians group. After 2 years I was hired as the Office Manager for an Orthopedic Surgical Practice. I remained with this group for 6 years before I left to become the director of the Lawrenceville Co-Op. As stated previously, at this time I am the proud owner of The UPS Store, (Hwy. 20 and Suwanee-Dam Rd in Sugar Hill, GA).
