About RSS: A Daily Devotional Update! The Daily Devotional is now set up in blog format on our website at www.proactive-evangelism.org/wordpress . You can read it there, or use our RSS feed. If you already have a RSS feed reader (or aggregator), you can simply click on the RSS feed link here, or the link at the bottom of the devotional blog or add use to your feeder. Our url is www.proactive-evangelism.org/wordpress . If you are unfamiliar with RSS, let me tell you about. It is a great way to receive online newsletters, or in this case, devotionals with out accessing email. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Each day when the devotional is posted on our website blog, it automatically sends it to your feed reader. You simply open your feed reader and the devotional is there. You can subscribe to other online publications or blogs through RSS, too. The key benefit is that since you subscribe to what you receive through your reader –you will not receive unsolicited newsletters or messages (spam). And since there is no spam, there are no spam filters to interfere with the delivery of the daily devotional. And since it is not email, there are no email servers that can block delivery of the devotional! If you do not have a reader, but would like to try one. There are several free readers available. Internet explorer 7 web browser and Mozilla’s Firefox web browser (Live Bookmarks) offer feed readers. I have personally tried Bloglines, Google Reader, Firefox Live Bookmarks and Internet Explorer 7 Live Bookmarks. I know that Yahoo, AOL and MSN also offer RSS feed readers, as well. Once you choose a reader, you can subscribe to our feed by clicking on the RSS link on our blog, or most readers have an “add” button that allows you to enter our url address into your reader. The address is www.proactive-evangelism.org/wordpress. This technology is becoming more widely used everyday. Many companies and organizations use it to send online newsletters, magazines, or important notices. Churches have found it useful to keep in touch with their congregations, including communicating prayer requests and promoting special events. In the future, we would like to make The Proactive Pulse, our monthly newsletter, available through this same technology. |
