Our History: Proactive Evangelism Ministries was founded by the Rev. Jim W. Hollis in June of 1993. PEM is a 501.c.3, not for profit, religious ministry. PEM was started with an original Board of Laity and Clergy. Rev. Hollis was the original Staff person. The ministry quickly grew to work with multiple churches, districts and conferences primarily in the area of outreach evangelism. Within a year, Rev. Hollis and the Board felt the need to diversify the ministry reach of PEM to include Leadership Development, Conflict Resolution and several other key areas of teaching and training with churches who felt they were not ready to launch into evangelism ministry due to other pressing needs.
Across the past fourteen years, PEM has grown to work with more than 800 congregations, across 37 states in the United States, with more than 40 Annual Conferences of The United Methodist Church as well as 11 other Christian denominations. The Staff of PEM has grown to have seventeen in 2007. It's ministry offices are located in Douglasville, Georgia, where the ministry was founded. PEM has seen thousands of lives changed through its diverse ministry of consulting, teaching, training and coaching with churches and districts across these fourteen years. Many congregations have experienced spiritual renewal through its ministries with them. |
